Det galler att blanda ihop korten sa ingen forstar.

I Sovjet fanns det bara ett parti att rosta pa. Det trodde jag IL visste, men blir inte forvanad over den kunskapsluckan.

I Thailand ar det motsatta problemet, att det finns for manga partier, sa det blir rorigt.

Det ena kallas demokrati och det andra diktatur.

Frågan är om många av de i Bangkok som accepterar röst-köp är personer som sökt sig dit från nordöstra Thailand för att arbeta ?

Det ser onekligen ut så, men partiest exilledare sade väl att de skulle vinna nästa val eftersom de var det enda partiet som inte köpte röster? Verkar vara konstigt då det är i deras starkaste fästen som röstsäljande verkar vara populärast?

Finns något citat från valet 2001 uppe i Issan, det var efter den ekonomiska krisen och en väljare väntade på pengarna innan han skulle gå in och rösta.

Hmm...

Vi (jag och frugan) pratar ofta politik.

Hittills har jag uppfattat följande:

Thaksin är en skurk, en större skurk än de flesta andra i den Thailändska politiken.

Kungen finns nog (tyvärr??) inte så länge till. hoppas den populära dottern får ta över...

Om Inte, så kommer kanske Thai (äntligen) att sluta tro att kungen är ofelbar, för att alla vet vad "Kronprinsen" går för.

Detta kanske vore bästa för Th, låt han ta över (OM det onämnbara händer) och bränna allt förtroende för "kungamakten".

En 60-årig playboy som är inne på sin 3:e eller 4:e Fru. och som är otrogen mot henne med nån Stewardess som verkar bo i Tyskland(Wikileaks)...

Är kanske det största hoppet för demokrati i Thailand! (som Louis16 var för Frankrike, för några år sedan...)

Det var väl inte direkt oväntat när han inte fick leda den planerade censurdebatten, smart av Thaksin. Han blir av med både Chalerm och Mingkwan som PM-aspiranter eftersom misstroendevotumet kommer att röstas ner så aser man nog internt att Mingkwan är bränd och vips in från höger kommer Yingluck Shinawatra som den enda kvarvarande kandidaten...

Two yellow-shirt leaders arrested

Chaiwat Sinsuwong and Somboon Thongburan, two former yellow-shirt leaders facing terrorism charges over the seizure of two Bangkok airports in 2008, were arrested yesterday during a protest against the jailing of seven Thais in Cambodia.

Crime Suppression police nabbed the two after Chaiwat had earlier dared the police to arrest him.

It was unclear why Chaiwat was taken into police custody while leading the street rally at Government House to demand the unconditional release of the seven Thais detained in Cambodia.

Since December 29, Chaiwat and Somboon have spearheaded the protests under the banner of the Thai Patriots Network.

The group split from the mainstream People's Alliance for Democracy after a tactical disagreement. The PAD will begin its own rally on Tuesday.

In the morning, the network marched from Government House to the Royal Household Bureau to submit a petition seeking royal assistance for the seven Thais.

Afterwards, Chaiwat made a speech challenging assistant National Police chief Lt-General Somyos Phanphummuang to take him into custody. He said he was on his way to the police headquarters to "see if Somyos will have the courage to arrest me".

As the protesters returned to Government House, Chaiwat and Somboon stopped by for lunch on Rama I Road.

About 30 police showed up to apprehend the two and take them in for booking. A group of protesters led by retired admiral Bannawit Kengrien held a brief rally at the Crime Suppression headquarters to show support for the two.

Bannawit said his presence might prevent any police brutality against the two.

The pair are among 11 suspects with arrest warrants out for them because they refused to report to acknowledge the charges like the other PAD leaders. Four of the 11 have already surrendered while five remain at large.

During the booking of the two, Somyos arrived, saying he wanted to ensure compliance with prescribed procedures. He also said police were willing to let them off before the court's indictment hearing.

Before entering his cell, Chaiwat said he would not request release on bail, as it would mean he is yielding to the legal process of the case while he regarded the terrorism charge against him was exaggerated.

"I insist on denying all charges and will not apply for bail," he said.

I thought it would be worthwhile to point toward a recent editorial published in The Nation commenting on our preparations to submit a report before the International Criminal Court (ICC) on behalf of the Red Shirts and other victims of political violence in April and May of 2010. Firstly, it is unfortunate to note that the authors have apparently not bothered to read our Preliminary Report to the ICC, which is available to the public in English as well as in Thai, and specifically answers many of the questions raised in the article. Secondly, it is disappointing but perhaps not surprising that the authors appear to “celebrate” the state’s ongoing impunity rather than condemn it, while attempting to rationalize the killings with various shades of ambiguity.

The political crisis in Thailand has become so overwhelmingly distorted that observers have lost their sense of what constitutes a crime, and, at the most extreme, the value of a human life. The Nation article doesn’t just attempt to brush off accountability before international law, it also implies that it’s OK for the Thai Royal Army to kill citizens without consequence, just because it has been done before. Take, for example, the state’s treatment of the deaths of journalists who were not affiliated with any political faction. There was Hiro Muramoto, whose death was captured on CCTV that the government refuses to share, or Fabio Polenghi, whose family has been insulted and mocked by the state’s obdurate refusal to provide any facts about the events leading up to his death.

It’s hard to think of any other country in the world today where some 90 citizens can be murdered in cold blood on the streets of its capital, while its government provides not one statement or report to hold even a single individual accountable, and then the media obediently praises their criminal negligence. The closest parable to come to mind are the recent events in Tunisia, where the regime sent the army into the streets to kill some 78 protesters, resulting in a massive public outcry which forced President Ben Ali to resign and flee to hide in Saudi Arabia. The outcome in Thailand has been rather different, with Abhisit and the Democrats preparing to steal another unfree and unfair election.

What separates our claim before the ICC and the laundry list of other instances of violence listed in The Nation article is the careful collection and presentation of evidence, which is historically unprecedented. The events of April and May 2010 bear strong similarities with well-known incidents of violence that have taken place over the past four decades. In none of these previous instances — October 14, 1973, October 6, 1976, and “Black May” 1992 — has anyone responsible for the deaths of dozens of demonstrators faced any form of accountability. None of those involved in the 1973 massacre were ever investigated or prosecuted, while both the 1976 and 1992 incidents were whitewashed by decrees that granted amnesty to everyone involved. Given how these instances were treated, no reasonable person can expect that a fair and complete investigation into the most recent killings would ever be allowed to take place in Thailand. Unfortunately there are people in Thailand who want this entrenched system of impunity to continue, and fail to see the extraordinary damage these kinds of cases inflict upon the country’s legal system and its society. We don’t expect to erase impunity and bring accountability to Thailand overnight, but rather take the initial steps forward in this long process.

The Nation article opens the discussion on whether or not the Red Shirts will achieve “victory” in the ICC. But what they fail to realize is that simply by filing this claim, and finally bringing all the facts and evidence of these murders to light before the public and before the international community for the first time, we have already won. Simply by airing these facts in a comprehensive legal brief and contributing thousands of hours of work to this petition, the Red Shirts have shown themselves more responsible to all Thais than a junta caught in a cover up.

Tror tyvärr inte att han inser att det är propaganda och inte någon objektiv åsikt som Mr Amsterdam förmedlar.

Men Aljazzera och Selina Downes ägde honom totalt i intervjun och jag tror det beror på att Mr Amsterdam inte har varit involverad i pågående konflikter tidigare samt verkar oerhört dåligt påläst om sin klient och hans tidigare eskapader.

Synd att inte Thaksins administration ratifierade ICC under sin tid, trots Demokraternas önskemål om detta.

Då hade nämligen kanske ICC tagit upp förra årets händelser och gjort en egen utredning.

En sådan utredning hade å andra sidan visat precis vilken fars UDDs, och Robert Amsterdams, klagan är och detta vet ju Amsterdam & Thaksin om.

Vetskapen om att ICC inte tar upp fallet är istället hela anledningen till att Thaksin & Amsterdam vågar skicka in en klagan och be dem ta upp fallet.

Eftersom det framställer dem i bra dager.

För det är allt som denna inlaga till ICC handlar om - uppmärksamhet och publicitet.

Alltid finns ju några stjärnor som köper deras desperata begäran om sympatier.

En ohelig allians under uppsegling?

Tänka sig att röda och gula dårar ska slåss sid vid sida mot regeringen...Amazing Thailand!

Politiskt skvaller, kanske kan vara intressant för en del?

Jag frekventerar ofta en restaurang på Sukhumvit soi 39, en av Bangkoks äldsta och bästa Italienska restauranger för övrigt Lópera.

De senaste veckorna har den blivit ett riktigt tillhåll för maktens tunga pjäser i Thailand, Newin Chidchob är där med sitt entourage ett par gånger i månaden, förra lördagen åt han lunch med Suthep Thaugsugban där. På söndagen kom Suthep själv för att äta middag med tre andra.

Men igår under lunchen så var det ett riktigt tungviktsmöte, Newin Chidchob, hans far Chai men även Chavalit Yongchaiyudh medverkade. Det är kanske så att Newin försöker locka över Chavalit till BJT för att leda dem i valet som kommer i år, 2012 är Newins bannlysning över och då kan Chavalit avgå som PM och in på hans post träder då Newin.

Detta kräver dock att BJT får PM posten efter valet antingen i en koalition med Demokraterna eller med Puea Thai. Därav förhandligarna med Suthep. Från vad jag har förstått så gillar inte de här rutinerade politikerna Abhisits populistiska reformpolitik och de faktum att han inte söttar de politiker i regeringen som fastnar med fingrarna i kakburken och tvingar dem att avgå istället för att göra som innan och stämma den som kommer med anklagelserna. Bäddat för en fight inom Demokraterna också med andra ord.

För övrigt är denna restaurang ett politiskt vattenhål, Somchai Wongsawat kommer ett par gånger per år och Abhisit som bor ett par hundra meter därifrån skckar ofta sin chaufför att hämta mat till hela familjen. Innan han blev PM så åt ofta hela familjen söndagsmiddag där

Members of the yellow-shirt People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) interviewed yesterday said they were willing to fight temporarily alongside the red shirts if that is what it takes to topple the Abhisit Vejjajiva administration and reclaim "lost territory" from Cambodia.

"I guess that can be done, because it's our country. We don't even use our [political] colour at this rally," said Boonthai Sirichoke, a PAD member from Samut Prakarn, adding that this government would definitely be removed if the red and yellow shirts joined forces. However, he said he believed the yellow shirts alone could topple the government.

Waen, a 47-year-old yellow-shirt from Chiang Mai, said she would not speculate but would follow instructions from PAD leaders, even if it meant joining forces with the red shirts. "We are just the mass, we don't have the right to question it."

Yupin Prasertsri, an elderly woman from Amnat Charoen province who came with her daughter to take part in the rally yesterday, said they were ready to join forces with the red shirts "because we want to topple the government".

"I can accept it because we have the same goal of getting rid of corruption and defending national integrity," she said. The PAD believes that the government is too soft on the border issue because of vested interests of politicians and generals who reap benefits from illegal cross-border trade.

Her daughter, who asked not to be named, said: "I can accept it because now it's about national interest and not colours."

The rally yesterday drew a moderate crowd of about 5,000 in the evening, with more arriving after dark. Half a dozen villagers who claimed they owned land along the Thai-Cambodian border that was allegedly taken over by Cambodians over the past three decades were invited to speak onstage.

A female villager burst into tears, telling PAD supporters that even though she had a title deed for the land occupied by Cambodians for 30 years, not a single government had helped get her land back.

"My father was so upset that he developed a mental problem," she said, adding that the family ended up having to work as hired help in Bangkok and elsewhere, and suffered immensely because they could not work on "their own land".
