"This will be the country's biggest centre for scientists and technologists, which will be full of hightech equipment for manufacturing and research," Science and Technology Minister Kalaya Sophonpanich said. "In fact, it will be a science centre for all of Asia." The ministry has given Chatchanat Thebtaranonth, deputy director of National Science and Technology Development Agency, the job of overseeing the project. Kalaya explained that founder of the Amata estate, billionaire Vikrom Kromadit, had donated the land. Vikrom and Kalaya are expected to visit the site with other senior officials in the near future before the ministry draws up a blueprint for the project.
