kenke Inlagd April 13, 2020 Dela Inlagd April 13, 2020 Homeless problem growing quickly in Pattaya due to Covid19, local residents ask city officials to take action By Adam Judd - Monday, 13 April 2020, 21:58 Pattaya- Local residents who contacted The Pattaya News have urged Pattaya City officials to solve the growing homeless problem in Pattaya as the numbers of visible homeless have grown dramatically during the past few weeks in Central Pattaya, primarily due to the COVID19 crisis. A video collage of the issue can be found here: https://youtu.be/qSb2ZiLsNxQ Locals near Soi 13 have raised concerns that although there have always been a few homeless in the area that the numbers have been steadily increasing in the area with an estimated 90 percent of businesses closed in Pattaya due to Covid19. The concerned residents told The Pattaya News that after Pattaya beach and the parks were officially closed the homeless were allegedly kicked off the beach and out of the parks where most of them slept. Now, they sleep in front of closed shops and businesseses, of which they are more highly visible. Additionally, according to both local residents and a tour by Pattaya News reporters, the numbers of homeless have grown dramatically. The local residents near Soi 13 told The Pattaya News that law enforcement and city officials should do something for the homeless, even if it means giving them temporary room and boarding during the crisis. They have an ample supply of food, notes The Pattaya News, due to the number of charities currently feeding residents across Pattaya, but unless action is taken soon the numbers will continue to grow. kenke Inlagd April 16, 2020 Dela Inlagd April 16, 2020 Pattaya lockdown set for 4 p.m. Thursday after successful checkpoint test By Theerarak Suthathiwong - April 16, 2020 0 58 Share on Facebook Tweet on Twitter Chonburi Gov. Pakarathorn Thienchai (3rd right) and Pattaya Mayor Sonthaya Kunplome (2nd right) inspect the lockdown to make sure it is running smoothly. Following their poorly planned, botched attempt to lock down the city, Pattaya officials on Wednesday actually tested their checkpoints to determine the impact on traffic. Last week’s attempted lockdown was a classic case of Pattaya officials announcing a plan without thinking it through first. Traffic chaos quickly resulted when police, Pattaya and Banglamung officials shut down streets to check for identification cards and fevers. It took a week, but a new plan was devised and on April 15 a dry run was staged to ensure the same problems would not reoccur. Intended to go into operation today will be eight checkpoints along Sukhumvit Road entering the city at its north and south ends at a major intersections. Ingress and egress lanes were clearly marked and, this time, traffic didn’t jam as badly. With the checkpoints set up on Sukhumvit with the intent of screening entering downtown, Pattaya is making no effort to protect the “dark side”, or East Pattaya. While residents there consider themselves residents of Pattaya, the area east of Sukhumvit actually is not inside the legal city boundary and is governed by Nongprue Subdistrict. So, for the intents of the lockdown, the many foreigners and Thais living on sois Nernplabwan, Khao Talo, Khao Noi, Nong Yai, Railway Road and other large residential streets will effectively be locked out of downtown, treated the same as travelers from Bangkok and other provinces. Traffic moved much better the second time around. Everyone passing through the checkpoints are checked, no exceptions. Link to comment Dela på andra sajter
